Country's first landmark "Pakistan Minerals Summit" themed 'Dust to Development' concluded in Islamabad on August 01,2023.

 

The inaugural session comprised of COAS General Syed Asim Munir, Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shehbaz sharif, distinguished guests from KSA, H.E Khalid Almudaifer, Vice minister for mining, Ministry of Industry and mineral resources, Kamal Abbasov, deputy minister of energy, Azerbaijan, Minister of state for Petroleum Dr Musadik Malik, Secretary Petroleum Muhammad Mahmood. Federal ministers, ambassadors of multiple countries, high commissioners, investment specialists 

The summit is collective effort under the umbrella of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC)to catalyse the economic activity in mining sector. The forum is a manifestation of the commitment from all stakeholders who have joined hands to unleash the mineral potential of Pakistan. In his opening remarks, Secretary Petroleum Division, highlighted the facts and figures of minerals in Pakistan. Two initiatives for sustainable development were shared with the participants. The Minister for Petroleum Dr Musadik Malik presented the projected potential of Minerals industry in Pakistan and laid down the future roadmap. He stressed that we will no longer sell dust but transform it to development. The Prime Minister stated that its the need of the hour to harness the potential of minerals for future of the country. Three MOUs were also signed at this occasion. The first between Barrick and FWO. Second between Mari Petroleum and Barrick. Third between Geological Survey of Pakistan and Barrick.The opening session was followed by panel discussions that revolved around the present potential, available technology, opportunities of investment for foreign parties, future roadmap, and development of allied communities of the region. The summit ended on a high note of positivity and commitment to continue untiring efforts for development of mining sector. The stakeholders committed to provide business friendly environment, to overcome red tapism and introducing one-wimdow operations for investors.
